🧮 Quick mental math
20%: move decimal left (=10%), double it
15%: find 10%, add half of that
Example: $45 → 10% = $4.50 → 20% = $9
Always check for auto-gratuity on large groups
Common questions
Technically pre-tax is correct. In practice most people tip on the post-tax total — the difference is small. Enter whichever amount is on your receipt.
Many restaurants auto-add 18–20% for groups of 6 or more. Check for "gratuity" or "service charge" on the bill before tipping again.
Optional for counter service (10–15% is appreciated). For delivery, 15–20% is standard since the driver is bringing it to your door.
